天皇皇后両陛下は29日午後、ラグナ州ロスバニョスにある国際稲研究所を訪問し、稲の品種改良などについての説明を受けられた。
この研究所は、気候に左右されず高い収穫量の稲を開発するなど、農業革命の1つ「緑の革命」に貢献していて、皇居で稲を育てている両陛下は、訪問を希望されていた。
